Book Review: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

This was a delightful book, and well worth the read. The story centers around Hazel, a terminal cancer patient at only 16 years old. At a support group meeting for teen cancer survivors, she meets Augustus, a bone cancer patient in remission. They fall fast and deeply in love, but cancer is cruel and brutal.

Many people don't read tearjerker books because they don't want to cry, but this book is well worth the tears. One of my favorite chapters was Hazel and Augustus helping their recently blinded friend egg his ex-girlfriend's car.

The prose was smoothly constructed, easy to read, well-written, and the plot was beautiful. The characters were deeply crafted and insightful. They acted and thought as one would imagine a person who has looked death in the face might: philosophical, wise for teenagers, and ready to take life as a gift, however temporary it may be.
