Review of A Bridge to a Troll's Heart by Lee Colgin
A Bridge to a Troll's Heart is a reissue of a book Lee Colgin initially published with Nine Star Press. She re-edited the novella and released it with a new title. I believe the original title was A Bridge to Love.
Arlo is a bridge troll who has finally been given his own bridge to guard. But he's never been a very good troll, and he's lonely without his family.
Tobias is a wolf shifter who serves as a messenger between packs. He takes an immediate liking to the gruff troll and strikes up a friendship.
Arlo and Toby grow closer as time passes, but what place does a troll have in a shifter's life?
This is a MM paranormal romance. It's also the cutest, sweetest, most adorable thing I've ever read in my life! I loved it.
Arlo is portrayed as very much not a usual troll, more sensitive and loving, and someone who wants family and companionship when most trolls prefer the solitary guardianship of their bridge, only leaving it to make troll babies. While Arlo takes his job seriously and takes meticulous care of his bridge, the happiest pieces of his life are the times when Toby visits him and the tributes he and his family bring--always thoughtful and personal gifts.
Toby is an unusual shifter, though he's generally happy and cheerful. The way he reaches out to Arlo in such a compassionate and sensitive way was so sweet. Their friendship is strong, and the way it gives way to romance was adorable.
