Review of Bring Me Home for Christmas (Virgin River #14) by Robyn Carr
Bring Me Home for Christmas is book fourteen in the series Virgin River.
This Christmas, Becca Timm wants to get past her college romance with her brother's friend, Denny Cutler. He broke her heart three years ago before heading off to war. She wants him out of her head. So, she forces her way into her brother's hunting trip because they're going to Virgin River where Denny has settled.
Denny isn't happy to see her, but when an accident turns her weekend into an extended stay, both of them get more than they bargained for. As Becca is stranded in close quarters with Denny, she discovers the boy she knew has grown into a confident, respectable man.
With a little Christmas magic, their wishes may just come true.
I'd grown to quite like Denny since he showed up in book eleven looking for Jack, who he thought was his birth father, though that turned out to be wrong. His relationship with Jilly as he worked with her to start her gardens and business was a lot of fun. He's serious yet playful, dedicated, selfless, and caring. When I saw this book was about him, I was quite excited, and getting to know his character even more made the book better.
Becca to me was a little childish toward the beginning, especially with her reasons for insisting on joining the hunting trip. Her initial treatment of Denny was a little petty and juvenile, but as time passed and she spent time with him one-on-one, things seemed to get better. By the end of the book, I liked her, though it was rocky for the first half. She seems like she still needs to do a lot of growing up that Denny has already done, but it doesn't mean she's a bad choice for Denny. Becca is probably my least favorite female main character so far in the series.
