Book Review of Heartsong (Green Creek #3) by TJ Klune
Heartsong is the third book in the series Green Creek.
Robbie Fontaine has searched his whole life for a place to belong. After the death of his mother, he floated from pack to pack, never finding a true home.
A summons from the Alpha of All, Michelle Huges, gave him a home in a large pack where he was welcomed. Enveloped in the grandfatherly love of a gentle witch and his role as the second to Michelle, Robbie has a home.
Yet something is wrong with Robbie's world.
With whispers and rumors of traitorous wolves and strange magic, the compound that is home to the pack led by the Alpha of All must maintain control of itself and reach to bring other packs safety as they exist in the outside world
When Michelle sends Robbie on a mission outside the compound, he finds himself in a confusing rush of trying to sort out who is pack and who is the enemy.
One of the enemies may be Kelly Bennet, the wolf who could be his mate.
Another wonderful installment in the series, though I admit I had to start the book again after a few chapters because I was so confused as to what was happening.
After my second start, I grasped the situation and ached for Robbie and whatever happened to him that ripped him from the Bennet pack, and with no memory of them.
Understanding more of the characters and world of the Green Creek series has been incredible. Ox and Joe, Gordo and Mark, the town of Green Creek itself, and for me, the most beautiful has been the evolution of the matriarch of the Bennet pack. The compounding of the previous books' events feels as though one book perfectly blends into the next. The major twist at the end was unexpected, and then how it exploded in the climax was heartbreaking.
I cried so hard at the end of this book, and the way it set up the final book in the series was absolutely perfect. I cannot wait for Brothersong!
