Review of "The Giver"
I recently borrowed the movie adaptation of Lois Lowry's book The Giver.
The book was an incredible young adult dystopian novel. The novel was a perfect blend of contentment destroyed by doubt and disbelief as it built up to the incredible climax. It is my favorite dystopian novel of the many I've read.
With how much I love the book, I was wary of the movie. I was afraid that it would be unable to capture the disturbing changes that the protagonist sees as his world falls apart.
I was blown away by the movie. It was amazing, and one of the very best book to movie adaptations I've ever seen. It was incredible to watch the changes that happen in this boy's world and to be able to see how controlled their community is and how different from reality.
I highly recommend this movie, especially to those who love The Giver.
