Broken Rib Scarves!
I made matching scarves out of two skeins of yarn I bought in the same color. The problem is that though they're the same color according to the label, the two skeins are very different. You can't tell as much in the pictures as you can in real life because my camera washes color out a little.
This project I intended to have one as a gift for my grandmother. She would absolutely love to have a scarf I made. It's usually the other way around: Grandma making a gift for grandkids that they can't stand. But I'm only one of several yarn crafters in my family.
I did a Work In Progress update for this project on October 3rd. Click here to see the post.
The first scarf is the one I'm keeping. It's an almost aqua green and gray self-stripe.
The second scarf is the one I'm giving my grandmother, and the yarn is a more leaf green and brown-green self-stripe. This is the scarf I did the WIP update on in early October.
Here are both scarves side by side. You can kinda see the difference between the two, especially at the bottom. The top is where they're the most similar and the bottom is where they're the most different. They're folded to show one repeat in the self-stripe pattern.
I'm looking forward to using my scarf this winter. I have a white hat to go with this scarf and as it's been unseasonably cold in the Pacific Northwest so far this year, as in much of the United States, I get to wear it right away.
I love making myself things like this!
