Review of Stray (Outcast Mates #3) by Lee Colgin

Stray is the third book in the series Outcast Mates.

Leonas is a grumpy panther shifter who provides security for the brothel the Twig and Berries. He takes his job seriously, sacrificing his personal life in favor of work.

Jeno is a cheerful, young vampire assigned to message deliveries, and the Twig and Berries is on his route. He flirts with the prickly Leonas, much to the shifter's confusion. Jeno may be running from a dark past, but he sees his future as bright. Especially if Leonas will give him the time of day.

The two of them have always suffered alone, but together they may be strong enough to break Jeno free of the opium lords who claimed his life.

This book was awesome. After reading Changeling, one of the two characters whose stories I desperately wanted to read was Leonas, and it was teased at the end that the next book would be his story. And Lee Colgin did not disappoint!

I loved Leonas and his prickly personality with a soft underbelly that he only showed to Jeno. And Jeno was a delightfully cheerful and sunny vampire despite everything he'd been through. I adored them both and rooted for them from their meet-cute.

The antagonist of the novel was unexpected for me to an extent, though before long I expected Leonas would want to avenge Jeno's captivity and control through opium addiction. I just didn't expect who would be behind it and how they would go about defeating them. However, I loved the way it played out.

This is a book I will read again and again. Another hit for Lee Colgin!
