Book Review of Plus Size Crochet by Margaret Hubert
Plus Size Crochet: Fashions that Fit and Flatter is one of the first pattern books I've seen created to accommodate bigger bodies.
Some of the patterns are dated, and some are not to my taste, but many are wonderful, and I'm hoping to make them in the future. I've always struggled to make sweaters and other clothing because I absolutely despise sewing pieces together and weaving in ends. It makes finding sweater patterns I'm willing to make quite difficult. Because of that, I tend to stick to items without stripes (unless it's self-striping yarn) and without pieces needing to be sewn together.
Ultimately, this is a pattern book with a variety of sweater patterns and even a couple of things that aren't sweaters. Many of the dated patterns can be made new with fun yarn substitutions or adjustments to the pattern.
I don't think I would spend what little money I have for pattern books on this one, but I would happily check it out of the library again to make something—but no seams!
