Review of This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress Universe #7) by Jeaniene Frost

This Side of the Grave is book five in the Night Huntress series, and book seven in the Night Huntress Universe.

Vampires are disappearing, and Cat and Bones must discover the truth.

What they discover shocks them. A zealot ghoul is trying to raise tensions between ghouls and vampires, and he's using Cat's unusual talents derived from her half-vampire status when human. They're forced to ask for help from the voodoo queen of New Orleans, and the price is almost too much to pay.

That price brings a whole new set of problems.

I am addicted to this series. Cat and Bones, and the other characters, have consumed much of my reading time of late. That's definitely not a bad thing.

The way Jeaniene Frost presents the relationships in her novels is much of what draws me in. I love that the relationship between Cat and Bones is solid, and they support each other no matter what. I enjoy that much more than angst and misunderstandings that pull a couple apart, and it seems to be rare.

Not only did I enjoy the relationship depiction, but the plot itself—the impending war and actions of the voodoo queen—was intense and fast-paced. It pulled me in and kept me glued to my e-reader.

I've continued to see consistency in world building even as Ms. Frost adds to the world with new developments in the plots of each book. Not once have I been drawn from my suspension of disbelief, which is an incredible feat with a series this long.

Overall an excellent book in an excellent series.
