Christmas Tradition
My mother made many traditional treats for the holidays as well as traditional dishes for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. One of my favorites were her Christmas wreaths, which she would make to distribute to neighbors. We always had one or two to eat, but most of them went to friends and neighbors.
This year I started passing down the tradition. I gave this one to our next door neighbor, a sweet older gentleman who is the assistant manager of the apartment building. He takes all the packages and the residents knock on his door many times each day. He's never rude or grouchy and always says hello to everyone he sees. He lives alone and I don't know if he has any family locally.
If anyone deserves some neighborly Christmas cheer, it's our next door neighbor. So, on Christmas Eve I knocked on his door and gave him one of Mom's Christmas wreaths filled with Mom's famous fudge. He was still thanking me after he had shut his door.
That made my Christmas even more special this year.
