Challah Bread
On April 4th I tried a new bread from my favorite bread cookbook, The Village Baker by Joe Ortiz, reviewed here.
It's a bread listed in the section of the cookbook for American recipes, and was one of the shortest recipes by way of time, only four hours. It has a lot of other ingredients then I usually use, like eggs and sugar, but it gave it a very distinct flavor.
Plus it was very pretty.
I hadn't made bread in a long time, and this was a lovely recipe to try for my first time in a long while. This was fun to make, and shaping the loaf was much easier than I thought it would be. My husband is a big fan and has asked me to make it again.
Baking bread is therapeutic for me, and I love the process and patience it takes to make a delicious loaf of bread. I missed it, and it made me happy to make this.
