Feather and Fan Shawl!
I recently completed a new shawl, one of my very favorite things to knit and wear, of my own design. It's a prayer shawl using a feather and fan pattern I used in a blanket. It is more tightly knitted than many of my other shawls, and with chunkier yarn than I would usually use for that needle size. The result is a very warm and comfortable shawl. The yarn isn't smooth and the feather and fan pattern gets a little lost in the texture, but it is a nice detail when the shawl is examined more closely.
The first photo is more what you would see looking at it, and the second shows the pattern detail through a lighting change.
It is knitted with Lion Brand Yarn's Homespun, an extremely soft and warm yarn that has long been a favorite of mine. It's not good for detailed work, but this yarn line is a beauty in itself and I think looks best in a very simple pattern, Like stockinette or garter stitch, or a simple double crochet.
This shawl has turned out to be a warm and beautiful addition to my cold weather wardrobe.
