Fuel for a Candle in the Darkness
When I was a teenager the soundtrack for the film The Crow, a comic book adaptation starring the late Brandon Lee, was one of my favorite albums. Around the time I got this album I started sinking into a very deep depression, eventually becoming suicidal to the point of having a plan for ending my life.
I remember listening to the album for the umpteenth time and really hearing this song for the very first time. As I listened to the lyrics, I sobbed, hoping that maybe there could be a reason to hope for something better. I hung on and listened to this song on repeat as I sat in a darkened room and staring into the flame of a single candle, my light in the darkness.
This song has continued to carry me through the difficult times, reminding me that it doesn't rain all the time and despite how hard the rain falls, eventually the storm will pass. Just as in nature, rain comes and goes in our lives, but it doesn't rain forever. Some storms are longer than others, but I like to think of the saying,

"It's not about waiting for the storm to pass,
but learning to dance in the rain."
