Music of the Heart
Music can speak to us and let us know that we are not alone in ways not many other forms of media can. Books are close, but not everyone is a big reader.
The albums that speak to me most are of a wide variety.
When I was 15 and in a deep depression an album came out by Shawn Mullins called Soul's Core and his emotional vulnerability spoke to me. The songs are about people in their real state, vulnerable and open. It is still my favorite album, and I shared the biggest hit off the album, "Lullaby," in a previous post.
The second is Slipknot's Vol 3: The Subliminal Verses. The album is about what it means to be just a little crazy. A lot of the songs resonate with me, but I shared one of them in a different post.
The third is Garbage's Version 2.0. Here are a couple of songs I still identify with so many years later.
