Book and Movie Review of Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades #3) by E. L. James
Fifty Shades Freed is the third book in the series Fifty Shades.
Ana and Christian are now married. Among the complications of marrying Christian is keeping a sense of identity when that close to such a dominating man.
Christian does his best to be who Ana needs, but just when they thought they were settling into married life, new challenges and dangers arise.
The titles of the books are very telling of the contents. In the first book, Christian says he's fifty shades of fucked up. In the second book, Ana starts calling him her Fifty Shades. So, according to the titles, the first book is about how screwed up Christian is, the second book is about how dark his world is, and the last book is about him being set free.
The reason I like this series is watching the journey Christian takes from the interview in book one until the epilogue in book three. He goes from a maladjusted yet brilliant man not willing to commit a relationship to a loving husband. He's still screwed up, but he's working on it and doing a pretty good job. He messes up and reacts badly to things, but he's trying and Ana can see that.
It was a satisfying conclusion to the series.
The movie was released earlier this year.
This was also a decent adaptation. It was better than Fifty Shades of Grey but not as good as Fifty Shades Darker. The acting was better in this movie than the others, at least in my opinion. Dakota Johnson is a better actor than Jamie Dornan.
They left out something I was surprised about, though. Ana's father was injured in a car accident and that was completely left out, along with Ana's birthday.
One thing I found really notable about the movie is it's fantastic soundtrack. I love it. All the movies have pretty good soundtracks, but this one was the best.
This was a satisfying conclusion to the movie trilogy and capped everything off well.
