Review of Backstage Pass (Sinners On Tour #1) by Olivia Cunning
Backstage Pass, the first book in Olivia Cunning's series Sinners On Tour introduces us to the heavy metal band Sinners.
Warning: explicit sex.
Human Sexuality professor Myrna is desperate for some excitement, and she discovers it in the form on Sinners's lead guitarist Brian Sinclair. During the course of twenty-four hours, he captures her interest with his personality and the way he gives her leave to explore her fantasies.
When her job at a Kansas City university is in jeopardy, she pleads with the band to let her study their groupies for a summer. Which lands her right back in Brian's arms, and he has no intention of letting her go.
This book is one I checked out from the library during the pandemic when the library was closed. I found an e-book with the entire five-book series in one. I read all the books in under a week.
I enjoyed Olivia Cunning's style and how she dove into the characters without bogging down the prose with unnecessary details. My own personal tastes run toward plot-centric writing instead of a focus on the characters. I like to concentrate on the action and dialog instead of internal musings. This satisfied that preference. And the sex had plenty of variety and steam!
The best part of this book for me was that Olivia Cunning flipped the traditional roles—Myrna was the aloof one, denying her feelings for Brian, and Brian was the one in pursuit, determined to show her how right they are together. For a rock star used to banging fans, he sure fell hard and fast, and he was determined to stop at nothing in winning a lifetime with Myrna.
