Solitaire Beret!

I made this hat earlier this year in green, but that was for a gift. This hat knitted in white yarn is for me.

The pattern is from the book Weekend Hats: 25 Knitted Caps, Berets, Cloches, and More by Cecily Glowik MacDonald and Melissa LaBarre and is called Solitaire Beret. I knitted it in Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn in white, a Michaels exclusive.

The pattern was easy enough to follow, and I liked the uniqueness of the entire hat being reverse stockinette stitch instead of just having a few pearl stitches on either side of the cable and the rest of the hat in stockinette stitch. The latter is the usual way cables are used, and the fact that this pattern didn't follow the norm made it catch my eye more than if it had. I find it more difficult to keep an even stitch when crossing between double-pointed needles in pearl stitches, so I struggled a little when the crown of the hat began to narrow, but it's not really visible on the finished hat.

I enjoyed making this because the pattern was interesting and easy to follow. This book is filled with many other wonderful patterns. I highly recommend it.
