Review of One Foot In the Grave (Night Huntress Universe #2) by Jeaniene Frost

One Foot in the Grave is the second book in both the Night Huntress series and the Night Huntress Universe.

Cat Crawfield is now the leader of a secret government division of Homeland Security dedicated to keeping the existence of vampires away from the American public.

It's been several years since she left Bones behind, but his promise to always find her echoes in her thoughts.

Then she discovers she's supposed to kill Bones's sire and lets him go for Bones's sake.

Not long after, clues begin to pop up at investigations that tell her Bones in on her trail. He arrives again in her life, and their reunion shocks her unit. Cat wonders if loving Bones will cost her the job she loves.

Until the shock falls away when Cat is targeted for assassination.

This second installment was nearly as captivating as the first. It was another view of Cat's lethal nature, and her soft side with Bones makes her even more likable.

I found myself itching for the moment they would be reunited, and the very drawn out, very satisfying reentrance of the hero was everything I hoped for in an unexpected way. It felt very realistic in Cat's emotions and thoughts, and I couldn't help cheering for them.

The adventures they get in afterward—the danger and them fighting side by side again—had me glued to my e-reader, just like last time.

I'm remembering just how much I love paranormal romance, and I'm so glad I decided to take a dive into adult books in the genre.
