Goal Achieved!
My goal for the year was to finish one manuscript. I wasn't expecting it to happen in February!
Last Friday, I finished a manuscript for New Adult Romance novel I've been working on since October. This brings me up to eight books!
It started out as a novella I wrote last spring and posted on the peer review site I'm on in the summer and fall. It got ripped to shreds: my characters, plot, descriptions... everything about it. Instead of losing hope over the story, I took it as a learning experience. Still maintaining hope for the story, I took the basics—the main characters and the idea behind the story—and the spirit of my critiques, then started over. To my surprise, it turned into a full-length novel, over three times as long as the original novella. And hopefully much better.
I desperately want to post it on the peer review site to see what people think of it now, but it's unlikely anyone who saw the original is even still there and will see this new version. Many people post for a while and lose steam. Few stick around long enough to post a whole book. However, I'm already posting a book, and posting two at once would make for two time-consuming projects when I already have several projects going. It would be too much. When I'm finished posting the book I'mcurrently posting, I'll post the one I just finished.
When Istarted writing three years ago, I never thought I'd get to a point where I'd complete books in this way. I just had an idea and was writing for fun; I didn't expect it to turn into a serious effort for a career. But writing has been rewarding in a way that nothing else I've ever done has. I get peace from writing, and I also get an incredible high from it. I love the creative process and everything that goes into it.
Now, the process of editing begins, this partof it on my own. I'll work on it slowly since I've got so many other projects and there's no rush on this one. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get to post this one on the peer review website.
I'm so happy!
