Sockies!
I've been making a lot of socks lately, and almost always have a new pair of socks in my project bag. This pair was a lot of fun because of the variegated yarn.
Knitting with variegated yarn is fun in some ways and frustrating in others. Some people who work with it hate when the colors pool, creating a patch of one color among the stitches. That can be seen in the sock on the right. I actually like when it does that, especially the way it pooled on this particular sock to create the diagonal stripe.
The pattern is from the Lion Brand Yarn website. It's a free download called "Sockies." I knitted it in Red Heart Soft in the color Watercolors.
The pattern was easy to follow and the yarn texture and color made the simple pattern fun. They're warm and not too thick to fit in shoes, though the anklet style of sock isn't really my ideal. They slip off my heel too easily.
I used this pattern combined with one other to create my own sock pattern that I've used several times now. I'll post some of those socks soon.
