Review of Love Me Again (Hope #7) by Jaci Burton

Love Me Again is the seventh book in the Hope series.

Loretta Simmons, now divorced, moves home to Hope and opens a bookstore—right next door to the current renovation project run by Deacon Fox.

Loretta and Deacon were everything to each other many years before, but she walked away to marry her ex-husband. Both are wary, but time heals wounds, and Loretta's daughter paves the way for new love between them.

This book was okay. I found Loretta to be a strong character and her emotional ups and downs regarding Deacon felt authentic enough. But Deacon's total lack of lingering pain over their breakup years before didn't feel real at all. He spent the book trying to convince Loretta that the past didn't matter, but in reality, the past would creep in and cause some distrust that they'd need to work through.

Because of this, the book wasn't true to life or realistic. It felt contrived and false because of Deacon.

By this point, I'm very committed to the series and powered through despite my doubts about Deacon's portrayal.

This series has slowly gone downhill with each new book.
