Review (Updated) of Tiger's Quest (Tiger Saga #2) by Colleen Houck
Tiger's Quest is the second book in the Tiger Saga series.
After leaving Ren in India, Kelsey settles into the home he purchased for her to thank her for her help. Mr. Kadam arranges for her to attend college at Western Oregon University and registers her for classes that will aid in their hunt to break the curse.
In an attempt to move on, Kelsey begins to date. There are several misfires, but she develops a bond with the man who teaches her martial arts class, Li.
Just as things begin to settle in with Li, Ren arrives on Christmas, unable to stand being parted from Kelsey any longer. Dismayed by the news of her relationship, he learns the modern American customs of dating and insists on honestly competing with Li. Once he wins her, they settle into a comfortable companionship.
Then, they become aware that the man who cursed the tigers, Lokesh, is aware of who Kelsey is. Kishan arrives to provide extra protection, and she enjoys her time with the brothers.
Lokesh closes in, sending men to capture them. Ren sacrifices his safety so Kishan can escape with Kelsey. He is captured.
Kelsey, Kishan, and Kadam immediately go about not only trying to locate Ren but also continuing their search to break the curse. With Ren gone, Kishan's friendship with Kelsey becomes more complex.
In this book, the love triangle requisite of most young adult series becomes evident. Instead of friends, the two are brothers who have competed over a woman before.
As it's supposed to happen, it is difficult for me to decide which brother is superior to the other. Which one would I choose if I were Kelsey? Even after reading the whole series, I'm honestly not sure. However, I do have a strong opinion as to which brother is right for Kelsey. The big question in this book is how they'll get Ren back, not if Kishan is right for her.
I found this a great introduction to the triangle and a way for her to grow close to the third element. Her connection to Kadam grows as well, and I genuinely liked the character, both a fatherly and grandfatherly figure in one. It is my second-favorite book of the series, and I always love revisiting it.
