WIP: Granny Stitch Hexagonal Blanket

Recently, I received a commission from a friend for a baby blanket. Her daughter is almost a year old now, so it would need to be a larger blanket. I sent my friend some patterns to choose from and she chose a hexagonal granny stitch blanket.

It's about half finished I'm guessing. I need it to be large so she can use it for a while. I adapted it from a pattern I found on the Lion Brand Yarn website. I had to do a yarn substitution and adapt the size, but it seems to work well. The only problem is all the corners are right angles, which doesn't work with a hexagon, so the blanket won't lay flat. Otherwise, it's lovely.

I've shared this photo with my friend, and she says she loves it and is eager to get the blanket. I can't wait to see what she thinks when she has it in her hands. I will have to ship it to her because she lives in Illinois where I'm from, two thousand miles from where I live now.

The blanket is fun to work up, especially with the color changes, and I'm enjoying how fast it's going along with the relaxing simplicity of the stitch.

I would definitely make this again.
