Book Review of Wanderlust by Tanis Gray

Wanderlust is a knitting pattern book with modern yet timeless designs.

The patterns are beautiful and the instructions seem easy to follow. The book includes a detailed glossary with various cast on and bind off methods, a variety of increases and decreases, and instructions on any stitches beyond the basics.

Included with each pattern are written instructions as well as charts. Patterns with multiple pieces include schematic illustrations to make the finishing process easier.

Tanis Gray's book would make it easier for a less experienced knitter to tackle projects more complicated than they may be used to, and a more experienced knitter would find the beautiful projects still engaging.

The patterns are gorgeous. They could be knit in soft or bold colors, and perhaps a different textured yarn to create a whole new piece. For me, a person who prefers the fun and funky, this book made it difficult to consider adjustments for it, but there were a few patterns with very interesting cables or lace that I could have fun with. The changes I mentioned above could make these patterns into something that suits me better.

I'm not sure I would purchase the book, but I would check it out of the library again to make a few of the projects inside.
