Home-Mulled Apple Cider

Fall would not be fall without apple cider. I don't buy mine at the store. I make my own.

However, I do buy the apple juice. I don't make that.

Here's my recipe:

  • 3 quarts apple juice
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 3 whole allspice
  • 1 3-inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Cheesecloth, in a double layer, 6 inches square
  • 3-Quart or larger slow cooker

Take the cheesecloth and lay it out flat on your counter top. Set the cloves, allspice, and cinnamon stick in the center. Tie it up with kitchen twine, then set it inside the slow cooker.

Put the measured ginger and nutmeg into the slow cooker, then pour in the apple juice.

Set the slow cooker on "high" and let cook for four hours.

Enjoy!
