Book Review of Two Simple Shapes by Salena Baca
Two Simple Shapes: 26 Crocheted Cardigans, Tops, & Sweaters is produced by the yarn company Lion Brand.
This book contains mostly ponchos, ruanas, and shawls, which are very easy to make flat and sew a couple of seams if needed. A lot of them have a fun appearance and look like they'd be enjoyable to make. The only issue with making everything in squares and rectangles is that nothing is fitted.
Each pattern is marked with a difficulty level. Most vary fairly evenly between easy and intermediate, but there are a handful of experienced patterns.
This is produced by a yarn company, and a large corporation with inexpensive yarn at that, so each pattern is written to use one of their yarns. Substitution is always possible, but I recommend examining the suggested yarn before substituting it.
This is an okay book with touch-and-go designs. The book has fun ponchos and ruanas, but the sweaters and shrugs I was not a fan of.
