Thumbs, Books, and Seasonal Delights

My thumbs are improving daily, thank goodness. I've started crafting again, slowly working from crafts and projects that require little thumb and wrist movement to crafts and projects that require greater movement. It's going well, and I'm excited to get back to my hobbies.

Writing has been on pause for the most part during my thumb saga because hitting the space bar began to hurt after a while of typing. I'm starting to dive back into my novel, and I'm enjoying it.

I'm still reading a lot, so there are plenty of upcoming reviews. I downloaded an app from my library that coordinates between devices, so I have it on my laptop and phone. I've enjoyed the app immensely, and it's much better than reading books in my browser. The app is called Libby, and it's made by Overdrive, so if your library uses Overdrive for ebooks, check out Libby.

I'm excited about the upcoming holiday and am enjoying having my Halloween decorations out. Before I made a bunch this year, I didn't have hardly any. My husband's favorite holiday is Halloween, so it seemed strange that we didn't have much. Now we have a lot more. I hope he's enjoying them.

Now that we're deeper into fall, I'm happily watching the colors change. There's a forest preserve near here that we usually go to every few months, but I'm not sure we'll get there before winter sets in. My husband is working overtime every Saturday for eight weeks, and that means we won't be able to spare the time on his only day off for a hike through the preserve. I like seeing the big-leaf maples with their fall colors and all the other regional deciduous trees against the background of evergreens that are so prevalent here.

One thing I miss about the Midwest is the fall colors. There are so many evergreens here that there are far fewer deciduous trees. Fall is not as colorful, but the moderate weather is worth it. I hope to spend Thanksgiving in Chicago with my mom sometime soon. Seeing the fall colors would be a delightful bonus to the family-centered visit.

Meanwhile, I'll enjoy the beauty of fall in this nature video from The Silent Watcher.
