Cabled Shrug!

I am in love with this shrug I made. It's from the pattern "Shoulder Shrug" that was a free download from the Yarnspirations website. I made it in Caron One Pound yarn in the color Azure.

The first photo shows the color, but the lighting was washing out the texture, so the second picture is in different lighting that highlights the pattern.

Some of the items I knit or crochet are really fun to make but not necessarily practical. Shawls, for instance. They're great around the house, but when you want to do something physical or go somewhere, they're not very practical. Ponchos are a great substitute for a shawl when you'll be active, but this shrug is in some ways better. It doesn't hang in the way like a poncho, but it reaches from my shoulders to my elbows, keeping my upper body warm. It's also a little loose, allowing for movement.

Overall, an incredible addition to my wardrobe. I'll be using this structure to make other things like it in the future because its functionality is fantastic. I can't wait to make more!
